Greetings From Paulette Boyd
At Georgia Piano Rebuilders
Hi, my name is Paulette Boyd. Many of you probably already know us because we have been taking care of Atlanta’s pianos for 34 years now. At that time you knew us as “The Piano Tuning Company”. In the early years my husband Vernon Boyd was your piano tuner. Maybe you met us in a Kroger store where he would play the piano while you shopped and we gave you advice about your piano.
Possibly you might have seen us at Phipps Plaza, Lenox Mall or a craft show. No telling where you might have seen us. My husband was a blind piano tuner and I the driver.
Over the years I built up many friendships with you as we chatted about everything under the sun while he tuned your piano. That was also the time of my apprenticeship in the piano repair business.
Vernon certainly knew everything there was to know about pianos and I was a willing student.
Changing Times for Paulette Boyd in the Piano World
Unfortunately for all, Vernon passed away in 1992, and so my youngest son Eddie House and I carried on the business, with lots of help from a staff of tuners that were my husband’s peers. As time went on we also took some training in refinishing and rebuilding and so became a lot more than just a piano tuning business. We expanded our scope of business and became“The Piano Rebuilders”. We put in new pin blocks, restrung pianos, replaced felt and put beautiful finishes on many of your pianos.
We brought in a good friend, Bill See, and taught him how to do the same thing. Those were busy years and time flew by. What a wonderful way to spend your life: bringing music into other peoples’ lives!
As Time Goes By
Although we do more rebuilding, refinishing and moving than tuning, we have an awesome tuner who could make anyone’s piano sound like it never did before. During all this time our business has not really changed much from our original mission. We still believe in tuning done by ear, doing things the right way, and earning your trust. I suppose I should retire now, but then who would bring your piano back to life to give you those years of playing enjoyment?
Nowadays we still accept pianos for restoration on a select basis and have fine tuned (no pun intended) our name to reflect our availability to all the folks in Georgia who want to see the musical life put back into their grandmothers or Aunt Mary’s piano.
We hope you like “Georgia Piano Rebuilders” website and our new blog written by Paulette Boyd!
We are going to tell you the story of the pianos that we meet from this day forward – with the trials and tribulations, the joys and the blessings that we encounter along the way. I hope you will follow along on our blog pages written by myself, Paulette Boyd, and enjoy the journey. If you have time, please add your pianos’ story below the blog in the comments section.
And Now It’s Your Turn: I look forward to hearing about your pianos, who plays them and how they are bringing music and memories into your life!! Long live the piano.
